| Personality system: in psychology, the personality system refers to the integrated set of psychological processes and characteristics that contribute to an individual's unique patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It encompasses traits, motivations, values, and self-concept, that interact to form a person's distinctive personality. This system is influenced by biological, environmental, and developmental factors. Corr I 391 Personality system/neuroscience/Saucier: contemporary neuroscience [has developed] promising theories that posit distinct brain systems or circuits, and then link individual differences in the functioning of these systems/circuits, via psychobiological endophenotypes, to overt personality characteristics.
